Just wanted to update on the staff from PRS. I already mentioned that Cate and Cory will be living in the house there, in fact, they are planning to be married in the old barn when it is all cleaned out and painted. Little Jacob, now in second grade, is so excited because he will be getting his first "big boy" horse. I may let him take my older gelding, Doc. They already have a great rapport.
Juan will be moving over here and living in the studio above the tack room. He is going to be semi-retired, which for Juan means only 40 hours a week or so. But he will have free room and board and doesn't want much in pay, as long as he can spend time with his beloved horses.
Jaden actually got another job through the County program at a big cattle ranch, and he loves it! He seems to have an affinity for working cattle so that worked out really well for him. Andrew will continue to work with us part time and will be taking some classes at the community college. I just can't do without his magic touch with the irrigation system!
I will still hire Callie for braiding and clipping the show horses and I will always have a steady stream of high school kids in and out for mucking stalls, feeding, watering and other miscellaneous chores. I feel like it all worked out really well for everyone and I have had no regrets about shutting down. I miss all those gorgeous ponies, especially since Cheri told me Sam got his BCh today, but I can stop by and visit whenever I want.
I am also taking several to the auction barn soon and recently sold a couple of 2 year olds, so refining continues. I feel like I am finding my way again and I like it.
Sounds like everyone is adjusting well to the changes. I'm glad the transition is going smoothly.
